Gentle Candlelight Yoga

End your day with the tranquility of our gentle candlelight yoga class. Make a mind-body connection that will aid you as you work to improve your body’s flexibility and strength. The focus of this class is to gently explore what your body can do and then honor those accomplishments without judgment. Mostly seated poses, lots of stretching, with some meditation and/or pranayama (breath work). A perfect way to relax at the end of a long day or to rejuvenate your spirit any time. All levels are welcome. No experience needed. Attend this class over time and you’ll be pleasantly surprised how quickly your flexibility increases as does your ability to quieten your mind and find your inner peace.

Anjana Morris was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama.  She went to Wake Forest University for her undergraduate studies and came back to Birmingham for her graduate studies in Public Health and Developmental Psychology at UAB.  She took her first yoga class in college with a friend, but sadly, she didn't enjoy it at all!  She found it cheesy and uncomfortable and well...just not her thing.  It wasn't until she was in graduate school in 2012 that a friend convinced her to give yoga another try, and she reluctantly agreed - after all, her upper back was always sore and she was willing to try anything!  That class, however, was much different from her first experience - not only did she feel substantially less tension in her back after one class, but she also felt more flexible and energetic for the entire rest of the day.  From then on, she was hooked! 

Jessica grew up in Syracuse, NY and moved to Key Largo in 2007.  She graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelors in Inclusive Education and a masters in Special Education and taught 2/3rd graders in NY for six years before moving to the Keys to take a teaching position at Key Largo School where she primarily works with students who have severe disabilities.  Looking for a stress release and another form of exercise besides training in the gym, Jess started practicing yoga back in 2013.  After seeing all of the benefits yoga had to offer both on and off the mat she started working on her children's yoga certification so she could bring yoga to first, her own students and then eventually all of Key Largo School.  The next step was to obtain her 200 HR RYT which she did right here at Key Largo Yoga in April 2017.
