Custom private yoga instruction for everyone in the fabulous Florida Keys!

So you have found yourself here and you are wondering....why yoga?




 You’ve heard so much about yoga, and you are curious about the practice. You know it’s supposed to be great for your body, mind and spirit. You have been told that yoga can  increase  flexibility, improve your ability to focus and help diminish stress. However, you don’t know where to begin or exactly what yoga really is all about. Perhaps you have purchased yoga videos but you are unsure if they are safe or if you are "doing it right". Private yoga sessions offer a one-on-one teacher/student yoga session the original way yoga was taught.

Why private sessions instead of a group class?


A private session allows you to work one-on-one with the owner and founder of Key Largo Yoga, Kathy Shirley. Private instruction is useful in developing a home practice and in learning to adapt group class postures to serve your individual needs. Useful for individuals who want to practice yoga at home or those who have special health concerns or injuries. 




Common Goals of Private Instruction: 


• Get started without being overwhelmed or intimidated
• Go to the next level in your personal practice
• Work with injuries such as back, knee or shoulder
• Discuss health concerns: women's issues, stress,   arthritis, headaches
• Work toward specific physical goals: increased flexibility, balance 
  and strength
• Target problem areas like tight hips, hamstrings or weak knees 
• Increase your mental focus
• Add yoga to your weight-loss or strength-training program
• Learn more about yourself—gaining awareness without judgment




Some things we will cover in your private yoga session:

NEW STUDENT:
• Brief background on what yoga is, in general
• Simple yogic breathing exercises to get the most out of your practice
• Foundation yoga postures and how to adapt them to your abilities 
• How to link postures together in a gentle yoga flow
• Modifications of the postures to accommodate your body 
• Education on body awareness, proper postural alignment with poses
• The benefits of relaxation

EXPERIENCED PRACTITIONERS:
• Customize your practice to meet your needs
• Get support with asanas you find challenging
• Learn how to build the strength and flexibility to deepen your practice
• Take your practice to the next level


Group classes are also offered at three locations in the upper keys. Please look under the "Schedule of Classes" tab to find a group class that meets your needs. Prices for these classes range from $10.00 to $12.00 per class.
