I have been interested in health and wellness most of my life and like many Americans I “thought” I was eating healthy. However, as a young woman in my 30′s, I began to have some heath problems that led to two major surgeries. As I began to look more into the foods I was eating and the lifestyle choices I was making, I found that I needed to make some changes to live the life I wanted to live.
Since that I time, I have gradually figured out how to nourish my body. A combiniation of healthy relationships, career, spirituality, yoga and whole foods is what keeps me healthy. I just had my 50th birthday and have never felt or looked better! I have a beautiful granddaughter (and two babies on the way) and I know that I am setting an example for them to follow.
I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. I also earned a B.A. in Psychology as well as a M.A. in Education. Drawing on this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals. I specialize in working with women that are struggling to achieve the health goals that up until this point have been unattainable.
I have been interested in health and wellness since I was a young girl. In my late teens I became more intrigued in whole, organic foods and what I was actuallyputting into my body. Once I became pregnant with my daughter I really embraced the importance of nutrition. Not only did I need to take care of my body and mind, but also nourish my growing baby. After my daughter was born I became obsessed with healthy eating to the point that I lost too much weight. Between breastfeeding and only eating limited organic foods I was not provding myself or my daughter with the proper amount of calories and nutrition. I realized that I needed to find a healthy balance of the right foods. With support of family and friends I got on the right path to wellness.
My mom began going to school at IIN and within a few months I too was enolled. I found my path of wellness for myself and a way to spread my experience and knowledge with others. I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.I specialize in working with women who are mothers struggling to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to also incoprporate that lifestyle into the family. I am so excited to start this new chapter of my like. Like many people, I have had my share of struggles. I’m a single mom with 5 children, 5 grandchildren and a dozen more who reach up to me uttering the word ”Grammy” from their precious lips. Like the beauty I’m holding in this picture. I am blessed. I could pretend my journey has been without pain and struggle but truth be told, I have had my share. I am a natural at taking care of others but wasn’t so good at taking care of me at one time. I have always had the ability to bring out the hidden potential in a person seeking answers. It was the hugs, tears and the messages of gratitude spoken from my clients and families “your an angel sent from heaven” that has lead me down this path, I have been reminded over the years both from my integrative medicine training and my 25 years as a registered nurse that people’s health is their own. So many people place this most precious gift in the hands of strangers. I am a witness to the dangers of such a practice. Health care companies earned a whopping $64,923,600,000 in 2010. Imagine the money that would be lost if people didn’t get sick. Well I’m here to share with you that keeping you sick is profitable. I was shocked at what I witnessed coming face to face with alternative methods/natural healing. I watched those who were critically ill, not unhealthy but dying show significant improvement in their health. A persons body will heal itself, even after years of abuse, medication and disease. The problem with most people, they decide to make changes after a terminal diagnosis is very advanced. There is no miracle cure but if you catch disease early, it can be reversed. Each person must decide for themselves how they want to approach their health. We are individuals with different beliefs, goals and values. However, food, movement and relationships with others, determine a persons quality of health and life.
I received my RN at Clayton State University in Morrow, GA. Throughout my career, I have had so many amazing experiences. One of the most memorable was as a trauma nurse at the largest ER in the South East. I have been a supervisor for a Home Health company, trained as an infusion nurse administering chemo and inserting central lines. I have taken care of patient in ICU, hospice, and the critically ill at home. In 2001, I started working and training with doctors in the field referred to as ”alternative medicine”. Eventually I was recruited to teach other practitioners in the Atlanta area these treatments and methods of healing. Since that time, these centers have expanded, successfully treating clients today. The Longevity Center in Shallowford, GA and Immune Recovery Centers of America, are thriving today due to my participation and willingness to pass on this knowledge. Immune Recovery Centers of America has since opened facilities in Toronto, Canada, and Washington D.C.
